TwinsDaily road trip to see Look Outs

Recommended Posts

Seems there is some interest there. Right now, my weekends are pretty free, though I could see that changing at some point. We will operate under the assumption that a number of these guys will start getting promoted come June, so with that in mind, these are our options:

May 2, 3 - Jacksonville (Marlins)

May 9, 10- Jackson (Mariners)

May 16-17 - Montgomery (Rays)

May 30-31 - Biloxi (Brewers)

I don't have a preference personally, though I need to know sooner than later so I can plan accordingly. If there's some interest, I'll pin the thread.

Post which games people would like to attend and see if we can come down on a consensus.

I could do May 2, 3 or May 16, 17 ... although the latter would be preferred. I work the evening of May 1, so wouldn't be able to hit the road until Saturday morning ... it's doable, but a very long day. The 16, 17 dates ... I'm off that whole week.  And in both cases, I don't have to work Monday so can make the drive back. Yay! :)

Contemplating my 'road trip' to Geneva tomorrow for the Kernels game. That's a bit easier for me to manage from Chicago.

Anyone can go, just depends on how much it costs :)

I'm going to pin this for now to see what kind of interest we can generate. I know Seth goes to some minor league games from time to time, it would be neat to see some of the owners here.

I have looked into this, but I am coming the other way, and do not have any firm plans yet.  Checked around airports in the area and it seems that Birminham, AL is the least expensive way to go, with RT air at around $250 a person and cars at the high teens a day.  About 2.5 hrs SW of Chattanooga.

Just a heads up.

I will be there May 2nd through the 5th, flying through ATLANTA (just under a 2 hour drive to Chattanooga, ~250 RT on a couple airlines and cheapasdirt on Frontier). Planning on going to games 2nd/3rd/4th for series against Jacksonville. They are off on the 5th.

If anyone finds themselves in ATL at the same time I'd be happy to provide the drive ta' Tenerseee, assuming you don't chop me up into sushi. We won't be down south enough for that.  ;)

Nashville is only a few hours from there.  Not sure where you live Thrylos, but Indy (where I live is about 6) and Louisville is about 4 from there.

I live in Lehigh Valley, PA and fly out of Allentown (or Philly or Newark, if I have too, but I avoid them like the plague).  750 highway miles.  Drivable but we are taking about $150-$200 in gas plus a hotel room or two, so flying and renting a car (and not have to drive 20-25 hrs RT) much better proposition for me :)

Nashville is 2 hours or so, but the airfares are $400ish + because it is a tourist destination.  Chattanooga has an airport as well (CHA) but the flights are at the $450ish range  (and I am talking a month plus in Advance).  Knoxville and Atlanta are in the 2-2.5 hrs range driving distance from Chattanooga.

not a bad price for the flight.  I fly for work and haft to say that it could be  a lot worse.

+1 for that ;)    I fly every other week it seems these days and, with short notice, hard to see anything South of $750 or so, no matter where you go.  Other than Orlando.  Or Vegas :)

It's just a tad too far from Taiwan but it would be awesome to see a Lookouts game.   I like their uni's and they have some good prospects also.

Pfft. Where there's a will there a way. ;)

Given how the org is playing, we might want to go in the next week or two :)

In all seriousness though, earlier is looking better than later. I have a tough time believing these guys will all be here.

What we have so far:

May 2, 3 - Jacksonville (Marlins) elee612, chitown?

May 9, 10- Jackson (Mariners)

May 16-17 - Montgomery (Rays)- SD Buhr?, Chitown (preferred)

May 30-31 - Biloxi (Brewers) - SD Buhr (preferred)

I'm fine with any of those dates (for now at least). Getting my puppy fixed tentatively on May 1, so that first weekend might not work for me, but that date might be able to be moved.

Thrylos? Anyone else?

Diehard, I live just north of Indy (in Fishers).  Seems to me that Nashville is 4.5 or so hours from Indy, going down I-65.   Regarding distance or travel time, what I'm not sure of is the stretch on I-24 from Nashville to Chattanooga.

While I wasn't specifically considering going down there, its an intriguing thought that I might need to act on.  The last two weekends on the list would probably work better for me, more from a planning perspective.  I know that flying from Indy to anywhere in the general vicinity is probably cost-prohibitive, which is okay, since I'm quite fine with driving distances like that.

I actually have planned a road trip heading east of the Twins Cities from May 17th through the 31st... I might have to make a detour to Chattanooga.... It would be kind of tricky for me though to make either the 16-17 or the 30-31 because I had planned to be either leaving the cities or returning to the cities on those dates.

Looks like a 14 to 15 hour drive from Minneapolis . . . I'll have to think about leaving a little earlier... The 16th is Mother's Day, though; which is why I was planning on leaving town the following day...

We're practically neighbors. I live in Zionsville, right off of 65. I've done the trip via 65 last year and remember it being around 6 hours, though there was some construction in Chattanooga that was a problem. I was going to drive it though if I go do.

Bought my tickets yesterday. But GOOOOD LAWD it was NINE dollars for front row dugout!! They think there the major leagues or something?! ;)

Not sure why it won't let me edit my own post,  but I certainly DO know the difference between there and they're. -__-

Just a heads up, mother's day is the 10th this year. Better send those flowers 6 days earlier, not later! :D

If I do go myself, I would definitely drive (I live just off of 69).   Doesn't make much sense to do otherwise from both a time and cost perspective.

Hmm... not quite as much interest as I thought. My wife would prefer me going down one of the earlier weeks as I have business trips the last two weeks in May. Chitown, I'll be in North Chicago on May 18.

Anyone else thinking of going? I know Thrylos was interested...
