World Series starts Tuesday...

As much as I think it would be great for KC to win the big kahuna, my gut tells me that San Fran is going to win their third WSC in 4 years. They are looking to be the most unlikely and quiet baseball dynasty in the history of the game.

SF over KC in 5.

I'm rooting for KC and I think they will win it.

Interesting side bit, I have an old friend I met in law school who is now an international scout for the Royals in Asia.  The Royals brought him and the rest of the international scouts into KC for games 1&2 and a big team dinner.  He's pretty excited about it.

Almost too close to call. Both teams playing really well, and not sure how KC can continue to cope without Duffy and Ventura. I'll go SF in 7

edit: I guess both players have given the thumbs up. I'll go with SF anyway, on the back of Bumgarner and their bats.

Ugh to the NL teams who advanced to the NLCS. I was thrilled to see the KC/Bal matchup but had no interest in seeing either SF or StL win another championship.

So, by default, I'm cheering on KC.

It's like you were reading my mind.

I have to stay on the KC bandwagon.  I think they win it at home, so 5 or 7 games is my guess.

Really disappointed in the delay in the start of the World Series.  Would have liked to have seen it start last night.  I know all the reasons about schedules and football, but it really has diminished the momentum that postseason had built.

I think the key will be the KC starting pitching.  Unlike the other teams KC has faced, I expect the Giants to be far more savvy at getting runs early in order to take the KC bullpen out of the equation.

Buster Posey is key behind the plate.  If he can control the running game, Giants win.

I like Baumgartner in Game 1 - taking away the KC home field and their mojo.

Giants in 6.

I also adopted Kansas City as my team this postseason.  So I'll say Kansas City in 7.  Nobody should go without a World Series for 29 years, much less a playoff appearance.  Unless that team is the Yankees.  Go Royals

James Shields isn't helping his free agent value with this post-season....

He was ridden hard and put away wet over the course of the season, so anything he really does in the postseason is gravy.  I still think he's a better 1A or 2 than an ace, but he'll give you 200 innings each year of solid pitching, and there's a lot of value in that.

This was also the first game his team has lost this postseason that he started, so while he may not be spectacular, he's not killed the team's chances either, and he's gone at least 5 innings in every start prior to last night.

Bailed out by his offense in the Oakland and Baltimore starts.

Postseason line: 4 starts, 19 IP, 28 H, 15 ER, 4 HR, 6 BB, 16 K, 1.79 WHIP, 7.11 ERA.

Say what you want about about going 5 innings but he hasn't been close to good in start except against Anaheim.  Giving up 4 runs in the 1st inning is killing your team's chances a bit isn't it?  If he was a Twin he would be getting roasted right now.

He hasn't pitched well, but he's not hurt his free agency a bit, which was my point.
