Here's Your Chance To Ask Terry Ryan Questions

With a new manager, will we see the same team? Will the youth movement accelerate, or might we see players from outside the organization for 2015? What is Mr Ryan's view of most pressing needs for players? What type of team culture does Mr. Ryan hope to build with a new manager and coaching staff?

To what do you attribute the success of Sam Fuld and Jordan Schafer with the Twins? Did the Twins get lucky with a couple of waiver wire claims, or did you see something in these two that indicated they could put up the slash lines they did?

or is Tom Brunanski that good of a hitting coach.

With Nolasco finishing the season on a high note, I can see him as a 12 -  15 game winner with round 190 to 210 innings pitched.  That gives us 3 solid starters with Gibson and Hughes.  Do you plan to go after 1 or 2 starters this offseason?  Do you think you will sign a FA starter and from what tier?

There are also numerous pitchers available for trade such as Gee or Niese or Cinncinatti has 4 starting pitchers 1 year away from FA to name a few on the market?

Do you consider Pelfry a potential bullpen pitcher next season or a starter?

Could May and Meyer start the season in the rotation or just one.?

Could Torii Hunter be a target this offseason?

Would there be room in the budget to add someone like Matt Kemp to LF? I realize he's overpaid, but he's still an above average ball player and would solve the team's LF problems for the forseable future, especially since he could be had for practically nothing.

Given the success of guys like Puig and Abreau, do you see the Twins being a bit more agreesive in the Cuban market to target guys that fit positions of long term need for the organization?

In Gardy's farewell press conference Mr. Ryan stated that the club would consider hiring a Hispanic manager or at least a coach.  Have any been interviewed at this point?

I noted at the Gardy press conference that TR answered this question by mentioning "diversity", as if he thought it was an "affirmative action" type suggestion rather than a way to better develop Latin American players.

So I might ask him first if he sees a need for a Hispanic coach or manager, and why.

I think the question he was asked at the press conference was something along the lines of 'With the influx of Latin talent, do you think it would be a good idea to consider a Latin manager?'

He then replied yes, that a manager or coach (which dishearteningly seemed to be the emphasis) would be considered for that reason.

So I think he already answered that question.  Besides, if average fans like us can understand the benefits of a Hispanic influence, I'm sure Ryan does as well.

I distinctly recall TR giving a quick response to a question about hiring a Hispanic replacement for Gardy, including a generic invocation of the word "diversity".  Just struck me as odd, like he and the Twins were perhaps a little tone deaf on this issue (wouldn't be the first time).  Obviously their manager interviewees so far haven't reflected any desire to fill that position with a Hispanic, although as you state it was probably more likely to come through a coaching hire anyway.

EDIT: I should add that I thought the press conference question wasn't phrased well either -- it didn't "state the obvious" in regards to Latin coaches being best for Latin players, so it left open the general "affirmative action" interpretation that TR may have took, given his response.

Of course, I don't claim to have watched the press conference all that carefully, so I may be very wrong, but this is the one specific that struck me at the time.

Questions for Terry:

Is there a player in the Twins system that you expect will surprise a lot of people in 2015? Who has impressed you the most in the minors in 2014?

How long does the organization stick with a player if they've failed to meet expectations? Are the Twins more likely to release / try to trade away a disappointing player, or work with them to improve? Is there a player in the system today that has gone from disappointing to impressive in your opinion in the last year?
