Why have the Twins not done any signings? On MLB Trade Rumors, there are plenty of announcements of other teams coming to agreements with their picks, but I have heard nothing about the Twins working on signing their picks.

I've been checking up on MLB Trade Rumors as well. I've only seen about 5 or so teams that have signed their #1 pick so far. So the Twins aren't alone on this one.

I know how you feel though. I wish they'd all hurry up and sign. At least this year the deadline is pushed up so we don't have to wait as long to find out who signs and who doesn't.

Saw that on MLBTR also. Also read on there that Correa got a 4.8m signing bonus and read in the Pio Press that Buxton is expected to get around 6.2m. Does that have to do with the players representation, there signability or both?

I believe $6.2MM is pretty much the recommended slot bonus for a #2 pick. The recommended bonus for a #1 pick this year was $7MM. I think Houston knew that he would sign for a little less giving them some freedom to pay over slot on some later picks. I think they also realized that it would probably have taken that whole $7MM or more to get Appel (I think that had a lot to due with both agent and signability).

Thanks, heard the same thing about Appel and Boras. Do you think the new slotting will steer some kids away from Boras in the future. Don't like the guy, of course I'm still bitter about the Travis Lee situation.

$6.2 million is not the recommended or "slot" bonus for the 2nd pick. It is the maximum amount allowed without using up the cap room assigned to other picks. Most reports get that point wrong. I seriously doubt Buxton will get the maximum. I'd be very surprised if he got much more than $5 million.

So far as the rapidity of signings, some teams are probably more cavalier with respect to pre-draft negotiations (which are against the rules).

I'm not familiar with what exactly can and can't be discussed between parties pre-draft. There must be a lot of wiggle room if Boras was publicly making the rounds and evidently assigning a non-negotiable figure he wanted while shopping Appel (including Terry Ryan).

Here is what I do not get about this: How can Appel (and every other College baseball player) hire a pro agent and still be able to play NCAA ball. NCAA FB players would have been tarred and feathered if they did than (Has happened before.)

Mr. Boras just cost his client millions of dollars. Of course he can always go back to Stanford for his senior year and get less.

I was listening to the Twins pregame on radio (as I was driving over to the Saints game tonight:)) and they were saying that Buxton is going to be in town in the next few days and a quick signing was possible. Don't know if that is wishful thinking or not, but we can hope!

Buxton will be there (Minneapolis, not Fort Myers where all the other guys are reporting to) Tuesday. Expect a press conference and an announcement there and then.
