Why is Hicks in AA still? Can anyone explain that?

see: His disastrous 2014 in the majors?

I don't mind the Twins taking a little extra time with him in AA, no need to rush him for a third time IMO, additionally, since he has gone back to switch hitting, perhaps he has been working a lot with the AA hitting coach and still has a ways to go?

Most importantly I think getting Hicks confidence might be the most important part of bringing him back, let him mash AA for a couple more weeks to get that. The fact he is now hitting both RHP and LHP at good clips is very very very encouraging.

re: Santana

I don't really care if they keep in the OF or keep him at SS, but what I care about is that they have a plan.    If he is going to be playing SS next year, get him there over the remainder of this year.  Similarly, if he is going to be an outfielder next year, keep him in the outfield.

Have a plan and work it.

FWIW...Aaron Hicks was transferred to AAA-Rochester yesterday. Rob Antony mentioned on Sunday's #insidetwins that he'll play all 3 OF spots.

There was dearth of tweets about this.

Apparently Mackey didn't even know:

And maybe I'm just being completely unreasonable, but Aaron Hicks is hitting .297/.404/.466 at AA. Shouldn't he try AAA again soon?

He doesn't show up on the Red Wings roster yet.

If the Twins think Santana has any shot at SS he should be playing there as it is the hardest position to field.  If they have determined that isn't his future than keeping him in CF is fine.  They need to have a plan for his development that doesn't include trying to straddle a fence but not ever committing.  How CF or even SS plays out for the rest of this season is irrelevant except where in it pertains to next season.  Every move at this point should be looking to improving the future.

People keep bringing up Span as a one year stop gap at CF for next season but that isn't going to happen.  The guy is crushing it.  He is going to have his option picked up by the Nationals.  Even if he was a FA he would easily get a multi year deal.

Span has picked it up lately -- don't know if I'd say "crushing it" as his isolated power is at his career mark.  But his average is up (and by extension his OBP), and his steals -- he's turning in a similar/better offensive season than 2012 which netted Meyer in return.  He should easily be worth 1 year, $9 mil to a contender like Washington.

And LEN3 didn't know as of this morning at 7 AM.  The Twins are really keeping this move under the radar.  This did actually happen, right?

Hicks batted .198 in 48 games with the Twins this season. He is currently batting .297 at Class AA New Britain with four homers and 21 RBI in 43 games. Gardenhire said he would like to see Hicks move up to Class AAA Rochester and earn a return to the majors from that level.

He appears to be on the Red Wings roster now (albeit without a number):

So assuming he's joining them in Louisville - or if not there, in Indianapolis.

But yes, it has been weirdly under the radar.

Ahh, good get, I see that the Wings just placed HIcks on the website roster in the last hour or so.

Yesterday was an off day for New Britain, so there's no reason why Hicks shouldn't be in the Wings lineup tonight in Louisville, I believe they were carrying 14 pitchers (counting Milone), so presumably Hamburger got back on his shuttle between AAA and AA.

Former White Sox starter, strikeout specialist righty, Dylan Axelrod, is starting for Louisville. He lost out in the numbers game in Chicago and Cincy picked him up.in a cash transaction a couple weeks ago.  I can't remember, does Hicks still hit left-handed?

Nope, Edgar Ibarra was demoted to New Britain.  No wonder, he was really struggling on Sunday.
