Burnett's Elbow Soreness May Force Twins to Make Roster Move

Recommended Posts

I cannot stomach some of these comments. My god, Slama has had a VERY LIMITED MLB time and you cannot judge him on that, so just stop. And with regard to option years and being claimed . . . . teams could have done that already . . .

I'm extremely curious as to where you are seeing people judging Slama on his MLB appearances. I fail to see anyone mention them in any previous posts. Regardless, all three in contention for the new spot have the makings of good right handed relievers for the bullpen. I think it's a great idea to give Blackburn the long reliever role to possibly get something of value for Swarzak.

Wasn't Slama below avg at best when he was up with the Twins?? Rather finally see Guerra and if Oliveros can find his control he is the type of hard thrower we lack.

This is what I was talking about, YourHouseIsMyHouse. And there is another comment like this by someone else elsewhere.

I remember Slama performing poorly when they brought him up before. But Burnett has proven that he is not an answer, and at the very least Slama has proven that he deserves another chance.

Is it really going to hurt anything to DL Burnett and give Slama a chance? Worst case scenario is that Slama loses a game or two and moves us closer to next year's #1 draft pick.

Slama has 7 IP in the big leagues over two years. I find it comical that people can make anything from 7 innings, good or bad.

He has walked 7 and struck out 8 in those seven innings. Last year, he got 2.1 innings and gave up no runs but was sent down. (he was also hurt most of 2011)

Yes and yet the references to his MLB time keep coming.

Never mind guys. The are reporting that Burnett elbow issues are "minor" (they say there was no 'need to take an MRI) and that he should be ready to go soon. So, they are going to wait until he really blow his elbow to put him in the DL

Alex Burnett (elbow) is not expected to require a stint on the disabled list.

Burnett (elbow) threw his first bullpen session Saturday. He's responded well to anti-inflammatories and could be available going into next week. Burnett has compiled a 2.92 ERA this season over 24 2/3 innings.

Ah I see, sorry for the confusion.

Good update. I guess I got worked up over nothing. It was nice to speculate and get a clubhouse response to the issue in case something like this were to happen. I think we're all a little shocked that Slama is #3 or even lower on the totem pole.
