Article: Welcome to the new Twins Daily!

I'd do that except that I don't have a "delete" button under the post -- even if no one has posted after me.  And I went through all the advanced editing and can't find a way to delete there either.

So, at the bottom of the post, to the left of the 'multiquote' and 'quote' buttons, you don't have a line that reads 'Blog This' 'Edit' 'Hide' 'Delete'?  Maybe it's a mod thing.  I also have that in edit mode.

On the previous, it showed the lats 8-10 forums that had been posted in. In this current one, all 5-6 of the last entries could be from the same forum. I think that giving visibility to more forums encourages discussion on more topics.

That's just the luck of the draw. The system pulls the 5-6 most recent posts from whatever forum they reside. There are no excluded forums so as things equalize a bit, you'll get a mix of threads from every forum.

Nope.  All I can do is edit and report.  And when I go into edit (and advanced editing), there isn't a delete either.

Guess I can go look at my settings and see if there is something I need to change.

Try going into edit and erasing everything then saving.  You should be able to delete or hide your own post, though.  If you have a 'hide' function, use that for now.

Coming to the site today was like going to the gorcery store you always go to and some manager from the home office had come in and made the staff move everything around.  Nothing tasted different, it wasn't better, it just looked different and you just had to wander around more to find what you want. I hope it was fun.  I am sure I will get used to it, but is just seems more cumbersome right now, with a different look and more white.  I see there is 4 game threads on the home page right now.  It probably takes more space, but I really liked how the MLB site keeps the "gameday classic" so after change upon change, you can always use the one that never needed changed anyway.  Hey......... thanks for the site, and I hope all the work was worth it to you.

Curt,

At the top of forum pages is a small clickable statement "Mark this Forum as Read".

On the left of each post in a forum (on the forum index page for each individual forum) is either a star or a circle.  They will both take you to your last unread post in the forum.  The star means you have posted in that forum.  The circle means you haven't.   (But when everything transferred yesterday, it made it look like you (or me in this case) hadn't read anything.  That's why I just went ahead and marked all my forums as read so I could essentially start fresh with new posts after I had done that.)

JB-finally found it! Thank you!

Another bug (or maybe a feature, still different than before.)   In the latest posts box to the right, previously there were shown by latest posts per thread, now they are regardless the thread.   This results in having links to the same thread more than once (and if it happens to be game time, 5 links to game thread only.)

I agree, and liked having them nearer the top / above the fold (now they seem to be further down the front page and squashed below numerous ads & such), the excerpt is a nice addition, I might also like seeing the most recent poster too, however.

Might just be me but I find that part of Twins Daily logo being located partially below the red banner to incredibly irritating when reading threads. It covers up poster names as well as slighting running over into the posting box itself. Even if it were more left justified it would be irksome just due to its distracting nature when scrolling down a thread, its like having a rollover ad follow as I browse.

I see what you mean - I agree.

Brock, I noticed on the mobile site I get to see who the last poster was and when, but ont he desktop version I only see who started it.  I LOVE seeing who was the last to post and when.  (I know the stars/circles help mark this too but it's nice to see)

To piggy-back after Seth a bit....when I click on the forums link I basically find that page useless now.  Before I could click on that page and see if anything was going on in the More Baseball, Football, Ask Twins Daily, or the Sports Bar.  Using the circles and stars to keep track in Twins Talk and Minor Leagues is easy because they are high frequency, but at this point I don't know a way to see if one of the other forums has a discussion going on without literally clicking on the subforum.  As someone that frequents those forums when something interesting is going on it's kind of a pain to check every subforum daily when the conversations are more infrequent.  Without that convenience, the forum page is basically worthless, especially with the guitar pick acting in it's place.

I hate to sound unappreciative and complainy (I really do like the new look!)....just something that I've noticed being a pain.  Maybe there is a better way to navigate that I need to be instructed of.

Levi,

I don't know if this will help or not but if you go through and mark all your forums as read and then start new, you'll note that they all show up on the forums page as gray.  But if someone makes a new post in a thread on a forum, the forum becomes white on the index page.  (this is on the desktop version -- assume it is the same on mobile).

(Ignore this on the Articles Forum because it keeps turning white as additional old articles keep posting).

There may be more than one thread that has new posts in it in the forum but then that was always the case.  At least it tells you if there is something new.

Question: Does your forum page look like this? Can you see the reply links to the right of topic number and post number?

Apologies if this is a redundant post since I didn't read through the entire middle of this thread, but on the new site just as on the old I'm getting some of the sidebar ads automatically playing sound, either little split-second chunks or full extended sections.

Kind of a nuisance at any time and especially not good for anyone reading the site at work (not that I'd ever do that...)
