how to improve the dh rule

I don't see interleague play going away although it would be nice if they didn't do it for three years and then had a three year rotation of interleague opponents (NL east year 1, NL central year 2, NL west year 3). That would allow for an extra series with other opponents not in your division but in your league.

I know with the current alignment, there has to be an interleague series at all times. That has to be hard on a front office to manage your roster by making a road trip such as the Twins did to Seattle then to an NL city like Denver. IIRC, Detroit was kind of throwing a little stink last year because they ended the season in Miami and didn't want to take Martinez out of the lineup as well as have their pitchers bat at the very end of the season. None of that mattered however.

There was a year where Ben Sheets pitched for the Brewers and tried to bunt every single time he came to bat, because he was at risk of re-injuring his back, and it wasn't worth the 1/10 chance of him getting a hit to let him swing away.

I hate watching pitchers bat. NL baseball is just awful after you get past the 5th or 6th hitter, because you KNOW the sure-thing out is coming soon.

I'd improve the DH rule with only one change: A team loses the DH if a pitcher hits someone above the letters. In that case the pitcher has to take the place of the DH for the next PA and the team cannot PH for him.

If we're doing that anyone who pulls a "Colby Lewis" (verb now, I've suggested it to Websters) - their team has to bat the offending pitcher in their cleanup spot the rest of the year.
