Is it a why-haven't-we-already-done-this or do-we-want-the-drunks-to-serve themselves moment? Well, Self-serve beer stations will be available for All-star goers at Target field.

I think some field research is needed. Any volunteers?

Fans attending Twins games can go to a cash register, show their ID and preload a $10 or $20 card. For the All-Star Game, a $50 card will be available.
I guess the All star game demands heavy drinking.

What's the big deal about self serve beer? Been that way at my house since the kids moved out.

It seemed a little overhyped to me, much more gimmicky than anything all that revolutionary. It was a very controlled environment/lines and staff on hand to make sure people weren't too drunk (and also of age).

Plus with all the good beers at Target Field, not sure why anyone would get beer from there anyways.

LOL. When I was a young (I'm thinking mid-60's here), Hamm's put out these silver metal "kegs" for your home refrigerator. I'm thinking that they were about a gallon each.

My mom loved that thing -- until she realized she was gaining weight from the beer. She wasn't a lush by any means but even a glass or so a day will pack the calories.

We kids always had access to it -- and always left it alone. I guess it's no fun when you aren't sneaking around.

I actually thought it was pretty cool, also if you are taking clients etc to a game it is easy to just grab them a couple $20 pre loaded cards and let them go knock themselves out whenever they want a refill.

It worked out to be cheaper IMHO, and some people like myself who are beer snobs 6 days a week, enjoy knocking back some cheap and easy drinking bud lights at the ball game, they just pair so perfectly with foot long hot dogs and the like.
