You wanted Trevor May? You can't have Trevor May...(yet)!

And so, he gets his shot in a couple weeks instead of RIGHT NOW ... how really does that matter? I really fail to see in any of your arguments how this really truly makes a difference over all to the club, to winning or not this year, to May's development, to our future. All I hear is a few people wanting it NOW because they want it NOW because it needs to be and should be NOW. For what? An extra start or two for someone who projects to be great and a long term part of the team? I really fail to see any difference in NOW than in a couple weeks from now. If a month goes by and we are nearing the end of July? Then maybe I will share in some of your extreme angst, but for now, I just really don't understand the impatience beyond perhaps maybe you and a few others, having nothing else to hope for with this team or how it's run. May will be up with the team sooner or later ... and to me that means perhaps after the all-star break. If before? Great! If not til then? Great! If long after that? I'll change my stance.

If I may suggest, the answers to all your questions might be soon gathered if you would check in with the promotion schedules of the perennially successful clubs who do it quite differently than the Twins.

I get the logic that Nolan Ryan was going to be Nolan Ryan if he was called up two months later.

Yohan Pino has next to no shot at being with this team in 2015, let alone 2016 and beyond. So what is the point? His numbers are slightly better than May's with a ridiculous, not a snowballs chance at sustaining a .222 BABIP and strand rate of 92%.

To me, logic and a good thought process matter. Getting a guy an extra 4-8 starts matters to his development. And I certainly would rather see that be the focus over an exhibition game.

What else do we need to see out of this 24 year old? What is left to prove?

I don't know, honestly. Just because the answer isn't obvious or readily available doesn't mean it doesn't exist. Player development isn't as simple as pointing to quantifiable evidence as the only measure with which to base a promotion. I won't speculate over the human element, but I imagine the Twins have their specific reasons (right or wrong).

Again, if the Twins have NO reasons to hold May back, why are they doing it? The answer to the question is too absurd to me (because they are stupid or cheap or not really trying to win), so I believe they do have legitimate reasons to hold May back (rightly or wrongly).

Because he can be a valuable asset going forward, even if less valuable than May. You don't pass up assessing what could be an asset, just because you have another supposedly better long-term asset who is also seems ready. Pino's development wouldn't be hindered by being jerked up and down in the rotation, as much as a younger player.

Sure, Pino, could turn into Albers, which could turn into a million bucks, which could turn into an international signing. These are small transactions that help build the depth of club.

Extreme Angst?

[h=2]angst[/h] noun \ˈäŋ(k)st, ˈaŋ(k)st\ : a strong feeling of being worried or nervous : a feeling of anxiety about your life or situation

By suggesting I would prefer a 24 year old prospect with a future here over a 30 year old without, am I really displaying angst, let along extreme angst?

If the reasons prove to be wrong, how legitimate are they?

As I've stated, it appears that the Twins prefer that they wait until the last possible moment to ensure that their prize pitching prospects make a one-way trip to the Twins. I guess I understand that reasoning, but it doesn't mean it's always the right thing to do. The Twins only called up Santana when there was literally, no other option. Why? Why did they do this?

So the long term focus should be tryouts for the likes of Colabello, Parmelee, and Pino so we can sell them to an Asian team? Over promoting internal talent?

Another straw man emotion put to rest. Well done.

Wait a minute, here. Previously the attacks from those that support the go-slow approach centered on the temerity of questioning the Twins motivations and intentions for each individual promotion. Now we are all finally on the same side of the page, admitting that, in fact, there are business concerns that come into play concerning the order of promotion?

Moderator's Note: A news item about a player on the DL for a short time turns into yet another The State Of The Twins Franchise: Your Thoughts? Angsty seems about right to me. I'm closing this thread. It's no longer productive.
