Thanks for Tib Tips... I didn't know he was on and I'm glad I got to watch him throw.

There is a lot to like about this Burdi kid... From that inning alone... I think that slider with a nice downward tilt will compliment that fastball nicely.

However... That stride has to get straightened out or he will struggle with his command sometime. He throws himself completely open to generate that velocity and that is also not good for the health of his arm.

Do you like Vin Scully? That would be a reason to.

I hardly know names of commentators. I listen to what they say, but it's kinda just ambience to me.

I know some don't... But I really like Tom Kelly doing color. He just knows baseball like very do.

Just drop the suit thing... Don't put him in a suit... You can tell by the way it hangs that he doesn't like it.

Vin Scully is the best... He's like Bill Cosby calling baseball without the punch lines or funny faces.

You might be a little younger than the median poster here at TD if you need to look up Vin Scully. :) Even though your liking of the Jays' announcer has no bearing, the following might be interesting, if only to add to your lore of the game:

If the Jays' announcer (still need to look up his name) doesn't credit Vin as one of his influences, I'll be surprised.

I know of Vin Scully. I've never heard him announce though. That I can recall anyway.

If you listen to the youtube link, you may recognize some iconic moments in history and go, "oh, HIM".

PS. "I know of Vin Scully." Kids, these days. :)

Howard Cosell was awesome!!! There has never been anyone better.

Especially when the drinking light was on. Howard basically informed the world that John Lennon was shot.

TK is as dry as a desert, but but man he knows baseball. He doesn't know fashion, he doesn't know dentistry, he darn sure doesn't know comedy, but he KNOWS baseball from the tip of his toenails to the split ends of his curly grey hair

He did indeed... I remember that... He also announced the loss of Bambi's mother. That a little known nugget.

I didn't realize he did all of those. But like I said before, I don't really listen to the voice when the play is happening. Also, all of those happened before I was born :). Gibson's home run was still five years before I was born.

I believe he was the one that was screaming, "Oh the humanity," when LT snapped Theisman's tibia/fibula like a twig.

If you saw Game 6 of the 2011 series, then you're good. One of the most exciting baseball games of all time :)

Were you born old, or just curmudgeonly? You are way too young to make many of the statements you make with regularity
