Joe with the hat trick. i long for the days of him being able to slap it over the shortstop's head.

Your wish...

Mosquitos.

"Mosquitos breed in swamps. This is a desert."

(originally referring to Los Angeles, not San Fran, and the whole movie changes when the mosquito gets squished.)

"You're a little out of your weight class..." seems to apply to this series as well.

Anyway, it's over. And i hope the next game's against someone else, perhaps even with rumored outfield re-enforcements.

Final Score: 8-1. Two infielders played in the outfield today, which led directly to the first two runs being scored in the 1st inning and to several other cringeworthy fly ball outs and ugly plays later in the game.

Meanwhile Hicks and Kubel sat on the bench. Genuinely trying to figure out why this was tolerated. Help!

A movie that has the distinction of being very strange even by Coen brothers standards...

At least with Kubel you could make the case that he's been pretty useless against tough lefties in his career, but like you said, they miss his glove out there.

It's funny, typing that last phrase made me feel as if I had crossed some sort of invisible yet significant barrier...

Um... Ground balls?

I too could have wished for a little more contact at the plate...

Lefties OBPing .253 against Mad Bum for his career and Mauersie went 1-4, so it was just a case of bad luck and accurate math.

Travel day line up?

So players get neither too little nor too much playing time?

Otherwise, if you're checking to see if the infielders can handle it, i guess you got keep tryin' 'em to see if they learned anything since last time?

Only graspin' at straws...

Day after night as well, as is his custom. And were it not for Parmelee in right, it would look to me like Gardenhire going all in on righties vs. lefty, which is not his usual m.o.

He also left Mauer in, where he could have let Colabello get a crack at it. (As was postulated he might before the game in a Colabello last chance thread, i think) but Mauer also can use the work, and is one of those batters rightly immune to the righties vs. lefty logic.

I'm always a bit surprised by how many switch hitters we have too...
