Annoying ads

I've been trying to track down who is serving those $&%$ing ads but haven't seen one in a long time. If I can look at the generated code, I can see who is doing it.

Every network we've used has been guilty of delivering ****ty autoplay ads at one point or another... including the network you used to work for.

:s-bluecap:

That was never us running those ****ty ads, that was the stupid ass networks we sold the remnants ads too.

There are networks out there that actually will not run auto sound ads. I'd suggest leaving USA Today Sports period, it's a sinking ship. You guys obviously know that landscape better than I these days, but is SB Nation or Fan Sided an option? At least you don't get stuck with the crappy ads.

We're always exploring more options but frankly, it's down to opportunity cost at this point. None of us have the time to work on everything we'd like to change so we have to choose our battles.

You should contract someone out to specifically deal with the networks. Give them like a 10-20% commission and I bet you will see a nice increase in CPM (Revenue) and zero more auto play ads.

And no, I am not nominating myself. The network game is depressing and dirty.

Like we'd even consider you at all. The last thing I want to see is this site's ads back-filled with "DEROSA FOR PREZ, BRO" banner ads.

Yes, it would be a conflict of interest for sure.

Thanks. The code doesn't render from source the way I expected. Can you describe which ad slot was showing the offending ad? For example, second rectangle ad in the sidebar about half way down the page.

It was on the right side bar about 3/4th of the way down the page.

Just thought I'd bump this thread up because these ads are back. Was drafting a blog post tonight and one kept running even when I'd "pause" it. I've had the same thing happening frequently lately on other pages lately.

Im going to reach out to our networks this week and find out why they're back. Give it a few days and hopefully they'll be gone.

Is anyone still having an issue with noisy ads? I reached out to the network that I believe was displaying those awful things. I haven't heard back yet but I haven't seen any of those ads run today (but I rarely saw them at all so there's that).

Ive still seen them frequently today.

Oops ... spoke too soon ... in the middle slot below the articles links ... an audio/video Starbucks ad for iced tea, followed by something that was too long to wait until it ended, but it seemed to be a lengthy demonstration on hair coloring. When I switched forums, it stopped, but then the Starbucks ad popped up right away again.
