Article: Mike Pelfrey's Stuggles: Small Sample or Larger Concerns?

I'm just shocked Pelfrey and his awesome downware arm angle suck. In his 5 seasons where he's thrown more than 150 innings his best ERA+ was 113. His other ERA+ were: 81, 107, 78, 77. That's the track record worthy of a two year deal.

The Twins are stuck with him. I sure he will have a few starts that look ok to give irrational hope that he might be a number 3 starter.

There is no reason to sign a back of the rotation pitcher to multiple years. They are available every year.

Hughes and Pelfrey need to be close to league average and Nolasco better than league average. If the Twins aren't right on 2 of 3, their winter was a failure that will have implications on future teams.

Did anyone ever actually think Pelfrey could be a number 3 starter? And I mean an actual 3rd starter, not the Twins' idea of a number 3 starting pitcher.

This is good news for Johnson. If he pitches well tonight he might get to stick around while Pelfry is sent down....No pressure Johnson...none at all.

I have to give Pelfrey credit. You can never find 100% consensus on this site. Until now. Thank you Mike Pelfrey for uniting everyone in wishing you a plane ticket, somewhere other than here, far away from a pitching mound in the major leagues.
