My adopt-a-prospect is Lester Oliveros. Oliveros is relatively new to the Twins organization, as he was acquired from the Tigers as the player to be named later in the Delmon Young trade on 8/16/2011. Oliveros is a righthander who has made all but two of his appearances in professional baseball out of the bullpen. Oliveros will be 24 years of age on May 28th. Oliveros was born and raised and still makes his home in Venezuela. He is 6'0" and 226 lbs. Oliveros' best pitch is a fastball, which was rated as the best in the Twins organization by Baseball America.

Lester is on the Twins 40-man roster and pitched in 19 big-league games last year--10 for the Twins, nine for the Tigers. Oliveros didn't make the Twins out of spring training and was surprisingly sent to AA New Britain. Given the state of flux of the Twins pitching staff and Oliveros' tools, it is likely that he will get another shot in the big leagues this year.

Oliveros promoted to Rochester, where he has made two appearances (3.2 innings), yielding no runs and getting a save. His numbers at NB were very good--one win, one loss, 1.42 ERA and WHIP under 1. He struck out 17 in 19 IP.

Do you bring up... slama and his 0.47 ERA and a strikeout and a half per inning... Or Guerra who has been tremendous, or Oliveros... Plenty of options.

They're grasping at straws to find guys to start games and have probably half a dozen decent options in the minors for bullpen duty. They have to try some of these arms as starters, don't they?

Seems like Swarzak and Duensing need looks in the rotation. I would brings these guys up to fill their spots in the bullpen. At this point, why hurry back Blackburn, may want to consider putting Pavano on the DL if his arm doesn't respond and possibly give Hendriks another shot. I think it is time to end the Marquis experiment and get our young arms up to the big club.

Oliveras' 5 er given up Monday hopefully doesnt hurt him too bad. Gardy said on Fri that Lester is probably the #1 reliever if they make a recall. Surprises me a tad he's ahead of both Guerra & Waldrop. Also stated that he watches Roc before/after gms to keep track of guys.

Good for Lester. He has a really good fastball, but he needs to have command of his secondary stuff. He had a bad outing on Monday, but everybody that toed the rubber for the Red Wings did that day (lost 16-0). Let's hope he can go out and win the Delmon Young trade.

Anyone hear what his injury is? Pat Reusse's show in twin cities mentioned its a UCL tear/sprain & may need surgery after the twins attempt at rehab ends. I hadnt heard it was this serious or did i hear it wrong

Again with the rehab. What are the odds he is successful? Better odds he doesn't and needs TJ surgery, missing all of 2013.
