Celebrate the new season with three award-winning writers, who will discuss their latest books in an evening moderated by Twins television announcer Dick Bremer. Join the discussion with Tim Wendel, Down to the Last Pitch: How the 1991 Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves Gave Us the Best World Series of All Time, Robert Weintraub, The Victory Season: The End of World War II and the Birth of Baseball's Golden Age, and John Rosengren, The Fight of their Lives: How Juan Marichal and John Roseboro Turned Baseball’s Ugliest Brawl into a Story of Forgiveness and Redemption. The first pitch is at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, April 10, in the Pohlad Auditorium at the Minneapolis Central Library. The event is free and open to the public.

Tim Wendel is a writer in residence at Johns Hopkins University, where he received the 2009 Award for Teaching Excellence and the Professional Achievement Award in 2004 and 2010. He is the author of eleven books. His most recent, Down to the Last Pitch, offers an inside look at the 1991 World Series, arguably the best of all time, when the Twins beat the Braves in seven games.

Robert Weintraub has written for The New York Times, Play, ESPN and Slate, among other publications. The Victory Season, his second book, chronicles the 1946 MLB baseball season when soldiers and players alike returned to a league that, much like the country, was reassembling itself. Based in Atlanta, Rob is also a television producer with dozens of credits on outlets such as ESPN, Turner Sports, CNN, Discovery and ABC Sports.

John Rosengren is a freelance writer in Minneapolis whose articles have appeared in Men’s Journal, Runner’s World, Sports Illustrated, Tennis and the Utne Reader, among other publications. His eighth book, The Fight of their Lives, tells the story of how Juan Marichal and John Roseboro turned their infamous fight into an occasion of redemption. The New York Post called it a "must-read."

Dick Bremer has been broadcasting Minnesota Twins games since 1985. The former Staples High School pitcher does the television play-by-play alongside Hall of Fame pitcher Bert Blyleven, his broadcast partner for 19 years. Bremer's distinctive bass, warm personality and encyclopedic memory make him a fan favorite.
