MVP...MVP...MVP

I guess I would reserve the word "great" for greatness, and not goodness. The first three starts still count. Certainly just about all great pitchers will have a few real rotten outings each year. 3 out of 5 and I am not ready to anoint Hughes an All-Star. He has time to become one, I guess, since the All-Star designation, especially with the fans voting as they do, has become quite fickle, and is only usually based on a hot start each year. If the All-Stars were picked and voted on for a whole season's work, the teams would rarely look like the same teams, and especially the pitchers.

And the Twins need a representative. And if nobody is voted by the fans, one will be chosen by John Farrell. I suspect that Cano and Pedroia will be ahead of Dozier, so Hughes will likely make it...

The All-Star for the Twins should be Hughes or Dozier, but I think it will be Perkins.

i was optimistic about the signing, and am further heartened by the start. I hope he can continue his duchess as the data suggests he could. Being in a larger park really did help his performance. Imagine what a real major league outfielding defense could do.

Not a high bar, but he has been the Twins' best pitcher this season. Even with the rotation shaping up over the last 3 weeks or so, he has continued to be their best pitcher.

I also think Perkins has the inside track. Gardenhire was named a bench coach and he and Perk seem pretty tight, so if Gardy has any sway it might be Perkins (provided he maintains the numbers). OTOH adding a former Yankee might be a fun bit of schadenfreude for a Boston manager. On the third hand, if Dozier continues hitting (say he somehow reaches 20/20 at the break) it will be tough to leave him off. And obviously I am just guessing about all of this
