Minor League/Major League Salary Question

How do salaries work when a player is called up? I assume, Santana for example, is now making the MLB minimum 400K? If he is sent back down, does his salary revert to minor league? And how much is that for a player like Santana?

You are prorated the season day rate. Also, you gave a substantive jump in your minor league pay by being on the 40-man roster. Some players *like Diamond) are paid their major league numbers in the minors. Some have a split contract which guarantees an even hugher rate if sent to the minors.
