Former Twin Torii Hunter had quite a scare yesterday when two police officers entered his Newport Beach home yesterday with guns drawn. Apparently, Hunter set off his silent home alarm system but did not know it. As he was lounging on his couch, he noticed police officers approaching with guns drawn ordering him to show his hands.

Although it is obvious that the officers did not immediately recognize the 4-time all-star, once identified, one of the officers reportedly told Hunter “I'm a big Angels fan. I watch you all the time”.

Hunter’s reaction: “I’m like, ‘Come on, man.”

In typical Torii fashion, Hunter handled the situation with class. His tweets read, "I'm not upset that the cops did their job today. I'm actually glad they were protecting home" and "The cops that were here today had there guns drawn but pointed downward in for safety. Those guys handled the situation like trained cops."

Never sure what to believe when it comes out of Torii Hunter's mouth. When I saw his tweets last night, I couldn't help but wonder if he had just dreamed that or what!

What were the cops supposed to do come into the house with an autograph pad? They received a burglary alarm call from dispatch and responded it to it like it was a crime in progress. Here is a tip learn how to turn you alarm off when you enter your house or have the alarm company contact you before sending police.

People look different in person than on TV.

People look different in uniforms, baseball or otherwise. (I can't tell you the number of times I've known someone at work but didn't recognize them when they were no longer in a military uniform.)

Torii was faced with armed police and was probably pretty tense, and I'm sure he wasn't smiling and joking like we normally see him.

I don't know if the police knew whose house they wre going to. If they did (and recognized the name) they might have been thinking "does this guy look like Torii Hunter?" My guess is they didn't know and their only thought was "does this person look like he could be a threat/how hard will this person be to take down if we have to do it." Torii probably looks like he would be pretty hard to take down.
