Do you have an opinion?? and are there specific players behind this? The OBP for the home run guy looks unrealistically low with the huge gap in OPS. For the long baseball season I'd rather have the on-base guy, which was what Moneyball was predicated on-- get on base, no bunts, no steals, let the next guy come up and get on base, keep the line moving, and so on, inning after inning, game after game, all year. Of course those Oakland teams also had great pitching...

Tweak the numbers and it would be an interesting experiment to simulate a bunch of seasons with those guys and all others factors being equal. NCAA brackets get simulated a lot this time of year.

If they were both on the same team, I would say player A isn't doing his job very well.

Player B is scoring on 53% of his singles and doubles.

Whereas player A is scoring on 52% of his singles and doubles.

The OBP is somewhat unrealistic for Player "A". That being said: With a slightly better OBP (.320), but better similar numbers in other categories, who would you then take?

Player "A" is fictional - Player "B" is Joe Mauer's average numbers over 10 years.

I hope we never become a money ball team. I like bunts and stolen bases and hit and runs. Play small ball with your small ball guys and let your Big Boppers do the Bopping. That should be the Twins Way of the future. Lot's of speed on the horizon and lot's of Power.

The same way Jake Mauer led the Kernels to the BEST record in the MiLB. And he did it with a pitching staff that was 8th out of 16 teams. Speed and Power will be the Twins Way. Chemistry and Character will determine our future. How do our pieces fit moving forward? Is there chemistry with our prospects and Big Leaguers? Just do your job doesn't always work. I'm excited to see the chemistry of our lower level teams. Winning breeds winning.

Interesting - So should player "A" be batting 7th or 8th and player "B" become the new clean up hitter. How would Joe do as a clean up hitter?

I suspected that might be Mauer but I think the three hole is fine (maybe move him up to second for a while if you feel the need). Arcia and/or Willingham batting behind him should be ok.

I'm a believer in chemistry, and also a believer in promoting Jake Mauer to the big leagues as a bench coach. Why not?
