GAME CHANGER vs MODEL of CONSISTENCY
Twins Video
Crazy Question:
1) Would you rather have player (A) who averaged 1 hit per game while going 1 for 4 every game during his season, but got on base at a .250 OBP and had a .527 Slugging Percentage. (30 HRs / 10 Triples / 30 Doubles / 92 singles / 302 Total Bases / 104 Runs Scored / 124 RBI)?
or
2) Would you rather have player ( who through an entire season, got on base at a .405 OBP and had a .468 Slugging percentage. (10 HRs / 4 Triples / 28 Doubles / 168 singles / 276 Total Bases / 84 Runs Scored / 62 RBI)?
Consider that these stats stay pretty consistent from year to year. Both players play for the same team, however player “A” hits in the 4 hole and Player “B” hits in the 2 hole. Which player would you consider more valuable? Both have a strong value in terms of winning needs. The crazy question becomes: Who helps us win now with the current roster in place? And Who helps us win more in 2016 and beyond?
In my opinion - Player "A" is a game changer and Player "B" is the model of consistency. Player "A" can change a game outcome with 1 swing, while Player "B" needs a stronger cast of players around him to prove his worth. YOUR PICK WOULD BE............? & WHY?
