Plouffe

Is it just me or does it seem like Plouffe could have used a longer rehab stint. He's now 0 for 12 with 4 K's since coming back after going 0 for 8 with 2 K's at Rochester. It seems pretty obvious to me that he could have used more time in Rochester to get his timing back but was rushed as a result of Nishioka's "performance."

Yeah, I agree. What he get, two games of rehab in and whithout a hit? How about at a week of rehab or hitting the cover off the ball in rehab, whichever happens first before returning.

First of all, I don't think he's looked that bad. He's had some hard-hit liners find gloves in the outfield. Second, what difference does it make whether he's shaking off the rust in Rochester or Minnesota? The alternative is shifting Carroll to third and writing another punchless middle infielder into the lineup.

That's pretty much my point, the complete lack of depth in this organization is pathetic and I get that the team is going nowhere this season, but like Herm Edwards once said, "Hello, you play to win the game." I just don't understand how promoting Nishioka or bringing back Plouffe before he might be ready helps the team win. Everybody keeps talking about the future and next year or 2014, but there are still games to be played this season and the purpose of every team in major league baseball is to win games. The rest of this season still matters to fans, players, coaches, and other employees of this franchise.

Twinslover, I agree. He should not have returned until he started to hit. Why even bother sending him to Rochester in the first place if 0-8 is good enough to get you back in the everyday lineup. I don't like the message it sends. 0-8 is ok and 0-12 for the twins is acceptable now at the major lead level. I remember Plouffe hitting two balls hard out of those twelve, but it missses the point. You have to earn your time in the majors. If you need more flexibility, promote Florimon, give Parmelee some time at third.

We are in the midst of a losing season, but we still have to try and win games. Does a guy that doesn't have a hit in a month, give us a better shot at a win this game or are there other options? Let's experiment a little. Masty at 2B. At least he has proven he can hit.
