How about having the Twins read our minor league reports.  Twins win their way to the WS with Gonsalves and Littell, They fill out their bench with Granite and Wade.  They figure out that Adrianza is a utility player and bring up Gordon. They discover that their BP needs were right there in the minors!  And the Twins trade some wily old vets for more minor league arms to continue building for the future. 

The Twins are going to be looking at finding homes for pitchers, especially if they can advance Gonsalves and/or Littell. Gibson will be a free agent. Santana will be a free agent. Lynn will be a free agent. Can any of them pitch well enough to move on? Remember, we also have May coming back, Pineada maybe coming back in September, and maybe Phil Hughes finds his fastball.

The Twins do have pitching depth. They have to make some hard decisions in the off-season. Can they keep 25 pitchers on the 40-man? Do they keep Dozier and/or Escobar and trade Gordon? What to do with Mauer? Do they let Mauer do whatever and go with Morrison at first, Sano at DH.

But first, yes, we have to get to the mid-point and evaluate. I don't see the Twins getting any rentals.

I don't see them getting any rentals except maybe Bullpen help.   Forget about Phil Hughes, his starting career with the Twins is pretty much finished unless we see a total collapse in the coming weeks (knock on wood).  I think he's bullpen help in non pressure situations the rest of the way with a possible release this offseason depending on how he handles that.  I would also not be counting on anything from Pineda this year either, maybeeee all goes well in rehab and he comes back in August as a reliever but asking for more than that so soon after TJ surgery is a lot IMO.  His value will be in 2019. 

Regarding the infield, gosh who knows.  From what i've seen of Morrison so far i'd be inclined to keep Mauer a few more years. Dozier is going to test the market and at 31 years old will want to max out his next contract.  I'm not sure the Twins will pony up to that.  Escobar you have to keep in my opinion with all the uncertainty currently around Sano and Polanco.
