It's not a real awe inspiring article. But it does shed some light on management's involvement. http://www.startribune.com/twins-gm-ryan-we-are-in-dire-straits-here/380386061/ "“Probably more than ever,” Ryan said of his talks with Pohlad. "Some people are calling it panic. I get that, OK. We’re in a mode here where I better be creative enough to do some things to help along the cause. We’re struggling to a point where we haven’t been able to right it. So I’m going to have to do some thing
Just a few days ago, it was reported that the Giants had agreed to terms with highly touted Cuban CF Eddy Julio Martinez. There's a lot of oddities to the saga, like this from MLB Rumors: "One of the most talked-about and highly ranked free agents earlier in the summer, Martinez curiously went months with his name scarcely coming up in news and rumors before the agreement with the Giants was reported." The signing bonus was supposed to reach $10M. The Giants supposedly signed him for $2.5
I really hold back what I would like to say about then payroll arguments here. The fact that people don't accept the amount taken in dictates the amount going out requires one of two things. Extreme financial ignorance or fanatical bias that prevents the acceptance of something some basic. I did not change the argument. It's the same idiocy over and over. Do you really want to be on the side that suggests revenues does not determine spending capacity?
At this point in the pre-season, I’m just so happy to be seeing games again, I don’t care about the Twins record in 2023. I think they’ll win it all, unrealistically speaking 🙂
