Importance of defense

Importance of defense

This years team has been terrible defensively; a lot of errors (physical and mental), misplayed balls that could have been called errors, throws to the wrong base, missed cut-off men, etc... This then makes me wonder if the pitchers are unable to relax on the mound, trying to be too perfect, not pitching "loose." Constantly throwing from the stretch, having to throw extra pitches, trying to make the perfect pitch to get the strike out, etc... could be hindering their development. We are seeing a

2014 and Beyond - Coaching staff

Love him or hate him, Gardy's fate is not in our hands. There are, as there should be, arguments to be made for keeping him, and for letting him go. Based on the fact that Terry Ryan won't commit either way, I think he is letting Gardy decide. He has a job if he wants one. I would like to see somebody different man the helm, like AAA manager Gene Glynn or, as mentioned in another posting, Dave Martinez. Both have ties to the Rays and, I believe, know how to handle younger players and a roster in

2013 Payroll

There have been alot of posts on here about all the money coming off the books next year. Let's take a look at the real numbers, as I have done on a couple off occassions this year.   The team currently has 8 players under contract for next year and they will earn $63.8 M   The team team has 4 arbitration eligible players that are estimated to receive $20 M. Trying this again....

Figured I would update the slash lines I started last week so as to get a picture of where our 2012 Minnesota Twins are sitting compared to the rest of the American League.   Interesting to note with all the different line-ups that certain positions in the field and certain spots in line-up perform the same, good or bad, no matter who is in there. Where do we start.....

Figured I would give this blog thing a try!   First of all, I like most of you, am a fan of baseball and the Twins in particular. It has been interesting reading some of the posts on here as to how to fix the team. I will offer no theories but instead will post some statistics using what have become the standard measuring tools - AVG/OBP/SLG & OPS for batters and WHIP, K/BB, K/9 & OPS against for pitchers.
