Twins Minor League Report (5/7): Cedar Rapids Shines

The Twins survived a short start from Ricky Nolasco (four runs in five innings) and won a back and forth game against the Oakland Athletics on Thursday. The Twins scored six runs on just five hits, helped along by six walks and a pair of errors from Oakland. The victory wraps up an 8-3 homestand, including a four game sweep of the Chicago White Sox. The Twins are now 16-13 and three games over .500 for the first time since 2010.   RED WINGS REPORT   Rochester @ Indianapolis Indians Box Scor

Twins Minor League Report (5/23): Arcia and Willingham lead the Red Wings

The Twins fell behind early in San Francisco and could not take advantage of six walks from starter Tim Lincecum in the first six innings. Brian Dozier and Joe Mauer both had two hits at the top of the lineup but the rest of the Twins batters had a tough day against the Giants.   Down in the Minor Leagues the Twins affiliates went 2-2.     Red Wings Report Rochester 7, Scranton/WB 1 Box   Mike Pelfrey pitched five scoreless innings, walking two, and giving up four

Twins Minor League Report (5/1): 8 Games in the Org

If you are a real baseball junkie, Thursday was a great day of baseball. The Twins organization played EIGHT baseball games yesterday. The Twins played two (lost both), the Red Wings played one (squandered a great pitching performance), the Rock Cats palyed two (split a double header), the Miracle played one (a lopsided loss) and then Kernels played two as well (swept both sides of a double header). With so much baseball action on Thursday, we will get right to it!   7323[/ATTA

Twins Minor League Report (4/30): The Stars Shine Bright

I just do not understand how baseball works. The Twins got all over perennial Cy Young candidate Chris Sale on Thursday night en route to trouncing the Chicago White Sox 12-2. Sale was out after just three innings and he had giving up nine runs, the most in his career. Trevor May gave up just a pair of runs despite scattering ten hits, but couldn't finish the sixth inning.   Down in the Minor Leagues it was a little bit of a mixed bag on Thursday evening. Aaron Hicks, Eddie Rosario, Byron Buxton

Twins Minor League Report (4/23): Gonsalves Gon' Save Us!

The Twins were off on Thursday, so a lot of people spent a lot of time trying to figure out what the heck Torii Hunter was doing when he scampered towards home plate on Wednesday night, attempting a straight steal of home. If that doesn't do it for you, you can get your baseball fix from the newest Talk to Contact podcast featuring TwinsDaily's own Jeremy Nygaard talking about the MLB draft and the Twins' payroll.   RED WINGS REPORT   Rochester @ Syracuse Chiefs   The Red Wings and Chiefs were p

Twins Minor League Report (4/16): Starters Give Games Away

The Twins surprised everyone and won on Thursday afternoon, taking two out of three against the Royals to win their first series of the year. Down on the farm, things did not go as well with every affiliate in action taking the loss.       RED WINGS REPORT   Rochester @ Pawtucket PawSox Box Score   Despite seven runs on twelve hits, the Red Wings lost to the PawSox in the bottom of the ninth when Ryan Pressly, working in his third inning of the evening, gave up a one out home run to Pawtucket's

The End of Nick Blackburn

Originally posted at Knuckleballs. Yesterday afternoon 32,261 baseball fans were treated to a 4.1 inning performance fromNick Blackburn in which more batters hit home runs (2) than struck out (1). Before he was yanked midway through the 5th inning, Blackburn faced 23 batters, and gave up 10 hits and 8 runs (all earned). Unfortunately for Twins fans, this marked Blackburn’s 8th start of 2012 in which he gave up 5 or more earned runs and failed to get through the 6th inning. In fact, Blackburn

Opening Day Starter

Originally published at KnuckleballsBlog.com   With the Twins likely done making moves this winter, and with Spring Training games just around the corner, I thought it would be a good time to put my predictive powers to the test and try and suss-out the Twins’ plan for the Opening Day starter. With the Twins opening the season at home this year, the Opening Day start has a little more significance than it has the past couple of years when the Twins started the season on the road. The Twins hav

Minor League Report (7/31): Minor Leagues With A Major Deadline

The Twins had a busy day, but not as busy as some fans had hoped. They moved Sam Fuld back to Oakland in return for the soft-tossing lefty Tommy Milone. Milone will report to AAA for now, but should be up with the Twins before the end of next week. The Twins tried hard to find a buyer for Kurt Suzuki, but finding no suitors, the Twins bought high on Suzuki themselves, signing him to a two-year $12 million dollar extension, with a vesting option for a third year. To replace Sam Fuld on the 25-man

Minnesota Twins 2011 First Round Draft Selection Levi Michael

This article was originally posted at Knuckleballsblog.com.   The last time the Twins were any good (2010) they were swept out of the post season once again by the New York Yankees. The Twins finished that season with 84 wins, 4th best in all of baseball. They were rewarded for their success with the 30th selection in the 2011 draft. With that pick they selected Levi Michael. At the time of the draft Levi Michael and the University of North Caroline Tar Heels were playing their way into the C
