Twins Minor League Report (8/6): Kohn Stewart Shines in Miracle Walk-Off

After yet another Minnesota Twins loss, the Twins made a couple of roster moves on Thursday night. Tyler Duffey was optioned back to Rochester, and Eric Fryer was designated for assignment, clearing a spot on the 40-man roster. In their place the Twins recalled A.J. Achter and Chris Herrmann. The addition of Achter means the Twins have a nine-man bullpen, and only four starters. They'll next need a fifth starter on August 13th, so expect to see another move in the middle of next week.   RED

TwinsDaily Minor League Report (8/3): Affiliates Swept!

David Price and the Blue Jays carved up the Twins on Monday afternoon, and to make matters worse, every affiliate in action on Monday night lost. All of the games were close, with only the Red Wings losing by more than one run, but outside of Elizabethton, there was not a lot of run scoring. Let's get to it.   RED WINGS REPORT Rochester Red Wings @ Gwinnett Braves Box Score   The Red Wings struck first, a solo home run in the second inning off the bat of Xavier Avery, to put the Red Wings up 1

The Twins finally won a game thanks to a three run dinger from Trevor Plouffe and a spectacular eight-inning start from Erving Santana. One final day off for the Minnesota Twins before they are back in action to begin the second half of the season. Twins Minor League Report (7/9): Arcia and Vargas Go Deep

Mike Pelfrey did not pitch great for the Twins on Thursday night and was a victim of his own efficiency as a low pitch count had him in the game into the eighth inning, despite a well-rested Twins bullpen after a midweek sweep of the Royals. Pelfrey ran into trouble and the Tigers scored a pair of runs and the Twins failed to respond. The Twins are now just 2-8 against Detroit this year.   RED WINGS REPORT Buffalo Bisons @ Rochester Red Wings Box Score   Nearly 4,000 fans at Rochester's Fronti

Twins Minor League Report (7/2): Miguel Sano Debuts

Miguel Sano made his MLB debut on Thursday evening and (of course) picked up his first career hit via an infield single in the top of the ninth inning at Kauffman stadium in Kansas City. He's a huge young man, just starting his (hopefully) huge MLB career. Oh, and the Twins won thanks to a spectacular eight-inning shutout from Kyle Gibson capped by a Glen Perkins save.   RED WINGS REPORT Red Wings vs. Lehigh Valley IronPigs Box Score   Rochester and Lehigh Valley were scoreless through four and

Twins Minor League Report (6/4/15): Poor Hitting All Around

Ricky Nolasco could not throw 100% in his pre-game bullpen and was placed on the Disabled List, clearing the way for Tommy Milone to start Thursday's game against the Red Sox. The Twins won the game late, thanks in part to a Joe Mauer bunt (of course), and managed to escape Boston with a split.   RED WINGS REPORT Pawtucket Paw Sox @ Rochester Box Score   Taylor Rogers pitched an eight inning gem on Thursday night in front of a crowd of 4,196 at Frontier Field. Twins Minor League Report (5/7): Cedar Rapids Shines

The Twins survived a short start from Ricky Nolasco (four runs in five innings) and won a back and forth game against the Oakland Athletics on Thursday. The Twins scored six runs on just five hits, helped along by six walks and a pair of errors from Oakland. The victory wraps up an 8-3 homestand, including a four game sweep of the Chicago White Sox. Twins Minor League Report (4/30): The Stars Shine Bright

I just do not understand how baseball works. The Twins got all over perennial Cy Young candidate Chris Sale on Thursday night en route to trouncing the Chicago White Sox 12-2. Sale was out after just three innings and he had giving up nine runs, the most in his career. Trevor May gave up just a pair of runs despite scattering ten hits, but couldn't finish the sixth inning.   Down in the Minor Leagues it was a little bit of a mixed bag on Thursday evening. Twins Minor League Report (4/23): Gonsalves Gon' Save Us!

The Twins were off on Thursday, so a lot of people spent a lot of time trying to figure out what the heck Torii Hunter was doing when he scampered towards home plate on Wednesday night, attempting a straight steal of home. If that doesn't do it for you, you can get your baseball fix from the newest Talk to Contact podcast featuring TwinsDaily's own Jeremy Nygaard talking about the MLB draft and the Twins' payroll.   RED WINGS REPORT   Rochester @ Syracuse Chiefs   The Red Wings and Chiefs were p

Twins Minor League Report (4/16): Starters Give Games Away

The Twins surprised everyone and won on Thursday afternoon, taking two out of three against the Royals to win their first series of the year. Down on the farm, things did not go as well with every affiliate in action taking the loss.       RED WINGS REPORT   Rochester @ Pawtucket PawSox Box Score   Despite seven runs on twelve hits, the Red Wings lost to the PawSox in the bottom of the ninth when Ryan Pressly, working in his third inning of the evening, gave up a one out home run to Pawtucket's

TwinsDaily Minor League Report (8/28): Nick Gordon Plays Well

The Minnesota Twins exploded for six runs in the top of the tenth inning after they squandered three early game runs and beat the Kansas City Royals. Twins Minor League Report (8/21): Sam Gibbons says Hello!

The Minnesota Twins resumed their winning ways and came up with a 4-1 victory against one of the hottest pitchers in baseball. The Twins ended a 20-inning scoreless drought when Kennys Vargas homered to give the Twins a 1-0 lead in the forth off of Corey Kluber. The Twins picked up a couple more runs against Kluber and thanks to a magnificent performance from Phil Hughes the Twins cruised to victory.   Red Wings Report Rochester 1, Syracuse 1, Suspended - Rain Box   The game in Syracuse was

Twins Minor League Report (8/14): Mat Batts Continues to Impress

The Twins enjoyed an off day on Thursday, and begin a four-game series with the Royals on Friday evening. The Royals are red hot right now, having just taken over first place in the American League Central, and looking to do damage against a struggling Twins squad. While things might not go well at Target Field this weekend, there will be plenty of solid performances in the Minor Leagues. Let's take a look at what happened on Thursday.   Red Wings Report Durham 9, Rochester 0 Box   Consistenc

The Twins managed just three hits against the Oakland Athletics and Jon Lester and lost the game by a score of 3-0. Twins Minor League Report (8/5): Tommy Milone Starts in AAA

Kennys Vargas made his Target Field debut on Tuesday night and did not disappoint. The big fella hit a three-run home run to give the Twins a 3-1 victory, despite being out hit by a tally of 12-5. Phil Hughes once again looked like the Phil Hughes that was exciting Twins fans in the first half.   The Twins won on Tuesday, but throughout most of the Minor League system, there was not a lot of excitement, as only the Kernels managed a victory.   Red Wings Report Rochester 0, Louisville 1 Box

Minor League Report (7/31): Minor Leagues With A Major Deadline

The Twins had a busy day, but not as busy as some fans had hoped. They moved Sam Fuld back to Oakland in return for the soft-tossing lefty Tommy Milone. Milone will report to AAA for now, but should be up with the Twins before the end of next week. The Twins tried hard to find a buyer for Kurt Suzuki, but finding no suitors, the Twins bought high on Suzuki themselves, signing him to a two-year $12 million dollar extension, with a vesting option for a third year. To replace Sam Fuld on the 25-man
