Next year the monstrosity of Joe Mauers contract comes to an end. This may leave the Twins with another dilemma. Lets assume for the moment that Joe is back, he is hitting albeit a mid 30s age player hitting, but lets say he finishes similar to where he is now and next year duplicates, do you extend him, and if so, for how much?
Depends on the return of course, but if they can Package Gordon with any other prospect not named Gonsalves or Romero, they should move him for a Pitcher that has some tread. I am not saying a Rent a Cole....but somebody that might be able to give them 5+ years. The Twins are suddenly shortstop rich and have Vielma at AAA went 3-3 last night. I think Gordon is good but hardly irreplaceable...and I dont think he is a once in lifetime player like Sano or maybe Kepler, he is a good chip to hav
This kid just won the Gatorade Player of the Year 6 2 LHP that touches 94 He is 10-0 with a 0.20 ERA and 145 strikeouts in 68 1/3 innings this season. Dozier is phenomenal, I would hate to see him go, that said, now is the time to trade him. Here is what I think we could get for him, a potential starting catcher, a close to ready starting pitcher and an A ball throw in, I hate to do it, but Polanco is clearly ready to take over and we can recharge the team with the return.
Do what it takes to sign this guy....right now..DO NOT LET RYAN et al participate in the draft! Candidate: Jason McLeod Current role: Senior Vice President, Player Development and Amateur Scouting (Cubs) Skill set: During his tenure with the Cubs, McLeod has played a major role in turning over an organization that was thin on minor-league talent, augmenting the infield talent that was present before his tenure with Kris Bryant and Albert Almora. He also has a keen eye for what can be considere
Is it concerning to you that we hear our offense is better, and yet we score two runs a game on a consistent basis? Oh..hold..today we got one...I totally get we aren't playing with full lineups...but guess what neither are our opponents. In addition the pitching we are facing..many are experimenting with pitches, we are facing minor league pitchers as well. A few games ago we hit four home runs, but did you watch that game? How many were wind blown? I think to compete we HAVE to have Es
TR got another decent return when I thought they were gonna just have to DFA Willingham. Good job, so whats the problem in the organization, talent evaluation?
I really hold back what I would like to say about then payroll arguments here. The fact that people don't accept the amount taken in dictates the amount going out requires one of two things. Extreme financial ignorance or fanatical bias that prevents the acceptance of something some basic. I did not change the argument. It's the same idiocy over and over. Do you really want to be on the side that suggests revenues does not determine spending capacity?
At this point in the pre-season, I’m just so happy to be seeing games again, I don’t care about the Twins record in 2023. I think they’ll win it all, unrealistically speaking 🙂
