Did you guys watch the same Sam Deduno I did? This guy is dominant, has phenomenal stuff, yes he is going to walk lots of people, but this also makes him virtually unhittable....the real problem with Deduno is that he might also be uncatchable, I know the catchers hate to catch him, that is a GREAT! sign... Get over yourselves...Deduno does not fit the mold of the "Traditional" pitcher and there in lies the problem, the Twins staff and evidently fans, get hung up on the traditional but you
Does anybody need competition more than Trevor Plouffe? Anybody else struggling like he is, would not be playing. I know this wont happen, but I would love to see the Twins bring up D Romero from New Britain and let Plouffe watch a lot of baseball. Plouffe seems very arrogant to me, like it doesnt matter, he has the thumb injury to blame it on...just wait until he recovers....and wait...and wait.... Sit him please, he needs a major attitude adjustment!
I was afraid Gardenhire and Anderson would fool with Deduno, and it looks like it happened. Deduno looked nothing like his former self in his previous start. Why? My bet is, that Gardy and Andy just could not stand a guy they see as so atypical, "you can't walk that many batters and be successful, Andy...." Hey guys, look a guy you passed on might be the Cy Young in the NL...same reason.. You have to allow Deduno to be what he is....a pitcher with wicked stuff..some of the best in ba
Having watched a lot of games this year, few pitchers have impressed me like Anderson for the A's. I would almost give up the farm for him. But here is what I would offer on season end... Morneau, Swarzak, Manship Or maybe this.....Gibson, Sano, Swarzak What would you offer for him?
I am bewildered to hear twins announcers say things like, What can we do to get back on track? We aren't hitting right now.... Hopefully the twins will get it together soon...WHY? This season was completely lost in the Tampa Bay series when the Rays swept the twins. There should not be any more talk about getting back in the groove, putting it back together..this season is lost, what the twins should be talking about is next year...what do we need to compete, where can we improve and how?
JW looked overmatched against Cleveland on Wednesday, took 3 called strikes, wow The problem is just fatigue, hitting takes so much concentration, the hitter gets mentally fatiqued, give JW two days off, thats right two and he will be fine
Scrambling to find out who the prospects were, I found the following, escobar a plus defender on the major league roster, Hernandez was being called up to start, so essentially the Twins traded for two major leaguers starting their careers. Hard to imagine a better haul given all the uncertainty surrounding Liriano. Had Liriano started again today, there might not have been any value left. Understanding, Terry Ryans ability and the circumstances, I think it was a pretty good deal. An inter
Dan Gladden and Chris were very complimentary of Deduno tonight, echoing my sentiments. Gladden said "he is athletic, he is teachable..." I think he loves baseball. Add Diamond and De Vries, and this could be a solid foundation for years to come. Caution of course is needed because the league really hasnt seen these guys. When they have been around the league next year we will have a better barometer. I do believe Diamond and Deduno are solid, but when they get knocked around a few time
I know, I know, all the teams will say, What happened, what are they hiding? With the mental case Liriano is, you can not afford to destroy his trade value. So skip his next start, he will have to pass a physical anyway, so better to not let his head destroy his value of any chance of trading him.
I always love when players get a chance in the bigs... Been dying to watch Deduno pitch and here are my observations... Has "electric" stuff ok not electric, at least with juice... One thing about how he pitches is, if he doesnt know where its going the hitter doesn't either. This was his best start, with additional control, I think he can be effective. I like a rotation next year that includes DeVries, Deduno and Diamond...with two of whoever else.... The fact that they decided
I really hold back what I would like to say about then payroll arguments here. The fact that people don't accept the amount taken in dictates the amount going out requires one of two things. Extreme financial ignorance or fanatical bias that prevents the acceptance of something some basic. I did not change the argument. It's the same idiocy over and over. Do you really want to be on the side that suggests revenues does not determine spending capacity?
At this point in the pre-season, I’m just so happy to be seeing games again, I don’t care about the Twins record in 2023. I think they’ll win it all, unrealistically speaking 🙂
